A few days ago, the EVU Board received the sad news that Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Langwieder, who was closely associated with EVU due to his many years of work on the EVU Presidential Council and as an honorary member, passed away on 22.11.2020.
Prof. Langwieder was one of the renowned experts in the field of vehicle and road safety and worked from the end of the 1960s first for the HUK Association and then for its successor organization, the GDV, where he headed the Institute for Vehicle Safety until 2003. At the same time, he made a name for himself as a lecturer at the HTW Dresden, was head of the DVR's "Vehicle Technology" expert committee and, since 2005, president of the German Driving Instructors Academy.
In 2007, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for special services to vehicle safety and his commitment to traffic accident research. With Prof. Langwieder, the EVU has lost, to its great regret, a competent, likeable and humorous person.
