The article discusses the problems related to the psychophysiology of sight, affecting the ability to recognize the position and speed of oncoming vehicles, with particular emphasis on motorcycles. Already many years ago, it was discovered that drivers with the obligation to give priority to driving make twice as many errors in the correct assessment of the distance and speed of the motorcycle as they do if the vehicle is a passenger car. Moreover, research has shown that despite the objec-tive presence of an oncoming motorcycle, the drivers did not register his presence and did not cal-culate it when taking the maneuver to give way.
