The article is a presentation and interpretation of the results of validation of the EDR recorded data of tests performed on a Toyota Yaris III. In the tests the car crashed against a rigid barrier at the speed of a few kilometres per hour and was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle at the speed of 50 km/h. The Toyota was manufacturer fitted with a II generation recorder (10EDR), and, additionally, a III generation recorder (12EDR) was installed. The data for the verification of the recorded parameters were obtained from in-vehicle measuring equipment including acceleration and angular velocity sensors. The results indicate a good compatibility between the real speed and those recorded by EDRs, the difference in the speeds during a crash did not exceed 1 km/h. The tests were arranged by the Polish Country Group of EVU.
