Cases in which a high voltage acts directly on a vehicle boil down essentially to two situations:

  • a vehicle in a traffic accident or other event is connected to a high voltage line,
  • the vehicle is struck by lightning.

It turns out that the effects are similar in both situations, in spite of quantitative differences in voltage and current values. Despite the protective role of the vehicle’s metal body, both situations can be dangerous to humans. This paper also discusses the results of the laboratory testing of the resistance of car tires to voltage electrical breakdown.
