On June 12-14, EVU Albania organized the first symposium on Accident Analysis, and on June 13, for the first time in Albania, it conducted a Live Crash Test. Five different crash tests were conducted:
· Vehicle–Bicycle
· Vehicle–Motorcycle
· Vehicle–Pedestrian
· Vehicle–Vehicle (roundabout scenario)
· Vehicle–Vehicle (90 degree angle)
The vehicles involved in the crash tests were equipped with Event Data Recorders (EDRs), standard GPS systems, In-Vehicle Monitoring Systems (IVMSs), dashboard cameras displaying real-time speed, and accelerometers.
The objective of the tests was to compare vehicle speeds recorded by the aforementioned devices, as well as to assess the correlation between analytical calculations and computer simulations - ultimately, to assess how these different methods match each other.
We express our sincere gratitude to the EVU and Chairman of the Board Dr.Dipl-Ing. Michael Weyde, for their invaluable support and essential contribution to the successful organization of the first scientific symposium in Albania dedicated to road accident reconstruction. A special acknowledgment is also extended for their assistance in the realization of the first live crash test ever conducted in the country—an important milestone in our efforts to enhance road safety and advance technical expertise at the national level.
