Load securing Test and Simulation

Abstract

In accordance with legal regulations (§ 22 StVO), the load on commercial vehicles must be secured in such a way that it cannot slip, fall over, roll back and forth, fall or generate avoidable noise, even in the event of emergency braking or sudden evasive movement. The VDI 2700 sheet guideline is regarded as a standardised expert report that specifies the loads that can occur during driving. As part of the development of procedural instructions for load securing for various goods, driving tests are usually carried out, which introduce the forces into the load and the vehicle body in accordance with VDI 2700. This paper shows how the occurring forces and accelerations can be measured with the help of modern GoPro cameras in order to feed them into a subsequent simulation with multi-body models in PC-Crash. To validate the simulation model, load securing tests were carried out. The results of the tests and simulations will be presented and discussed. The aim of the work is to avoid complex and cost-intensive driving tests in the future by means of simulation in PC-Crash.
